COAS Benefit Gala 2009

One of the year‘s main events is the Annual Benefit Gala held by COAS (Cooperativa de Acción Social) before the opening of their Feria de las Naciones, which main purpose is to raise money for Buenos Aires‘s public hospitals.
Yesterday‘s Gala was the perfect occasion to present COAS‘ new President, Ani Mestre de Sambrizzi, who gave a compelling speech, explaining with numbers and facts how much is needed to improve the Health System (a lot!) and how much COAS has done this year (a lot too!).
Mauricio Macri, Buenos Aires‘ mayor, also gave a hopeful speech.
Joyería Jean Pierre donated pieces to be given as prizes and there was also an outfit by Susana Ortiz. La Rural‘s Ballroom was splendidly decorated by Martín Roig and Galería Daniel Maman lent some paintings to be shown on the walls.
Elena Roger and her ensamble cast from Piaf sang three songs from the theatrical success Piaf and had us all in tears (even me!). Elena has nothing to envy Edith Piaf herself.
No-one missed the Gala: 800 people were there. Of course, we ladies were showing our best gowns and everybody danced to the 70s style music!
One again, another opportunity to prove that glamour and social work can go together...
